Six Columbia firefighters are home from the Texas wildfire
Columbia Fire & Rescue sent six firefighters, plus Engine 1 and Support 1, to Texas on Aug. 30 to help fight the Ross Fire, which grew to about 90,400 acres. The crew pulled 14- to 16-hour shifts in heat above 100 degrees, guarding homes and patrolling fire lines. Containment was around 30% when they arrived and 87% when they left.
